Rabbi Andrew Rosenblatt

Rabbi Andrew Rosenblatt has been the spiritual leader of Schara Tzedeck since 2003.  A native of Baltimore, Maryland, Rabbi Rosenblatt is the great-grandson of renowned chazzan and composer Yossele Rosenblatt, and grandson of Rabbi Dr. Samuel Rosenblatt.

Rabbi Rosenblatt graduated from Columbia University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in chemistry and English literature, and a Masters of Science in bioorganic chemistry.  After completing his secular studies, Rabbi Rosenblatt spent two years in Yeshivat Har Etzion in Israel and subsequently received semicha from Yeshiva University in New York.   Before coming to Vancouver, Rabbi Rosenblatt served as the assistant rabbi in Congregation Ahavath Torah in Englewood, New Jersey before taking the helm at Schara Tzedeck.

Rabbi Rosenblatt is married to Dr. Cirelle Rosenblatt, a neuropsychologist, and they have five children. Rabbi Rosenblatt sees his mission at Schara Tzedeck as making Torah resonate with the experiences of modern life, and draws on his extensive academic and Torah education, as well as his creativity to put this vision into reality.

Rabbi Ari Federgrun, Associate Rabbi


Rabbi Ari Federgrun is a graduate of Yeshivat Kerem B’Yavneh, in Israel, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Talmudic Literature, followed by studies at Yeshiva University in New York, where he graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology.  In addition, Rabbi Federgrun received his smicha (rabbinic ordination) from the YU’s Rabbi Isaac Elchanan Theological Seminary (RIETS), and was also a member of Yeshiva University’s prestigious Kollel Elyon for four years. The Kollel program provides post-rabbinic training for scholars who aspire to become future spiritual-intellectual role models for the Jewish community.  It combines intensive Torah learning with contemporary studies, including counselling, advanced public speaking and writing, business ethics, and conflict resolution.


Rabbi Federgrun taught Talmud at Yeshiva University High School for Boys in New York. He trained in couple’s therapy at the Gottman Institute, a therapist training institute based on the research of Drs. John and Julie Gottman, and has counselled and prepared many of his students for successful marriages.  Rabbi Federgrun takes pride in continuing to maintain close relationships with many of his former students.  He led a very successful program at the Boca Raton Synagogue for three consecutive summers to energize and engage the community. Rabbi Federgrun moved to Vancouver in the summer of 2017 to take up the position of Director of Community Education for the Vancouver Torah Learning Centre, which coincided with his wife, Mrs. Meira Federgrun, taking up the reins as the Head of School of Shalhevet Girls’ High School.  The Federgruns have four delightful children, Yechezkel, Shlomo, Moshe and Aliza who can be found running around the kiddush at Schara Tzedeck.


Reverend Joseph Marciano, Torah Reader and Funeral Director

It is hard to think of Schara Tzedeck without thinking of Joseph Marciano.  Originally from Casablanca, Morocco, Joseph has spent more than 30 years as at the heart of the synagogue’s religious services, and the nexus between the synagogue and the cemetery.  In addition to general oversight of the services and reading Torah, Joseph acts as the shul’s masghiach.  He has prepared hundreds of bar mitzvah boys for their big day, and is already teaching his second generation of celebrants.

As funeral director of the Schara Tzedeck Cemetery Board Joseph facilitates all aspects of burials, and provides gentle comfort and bereavement support.  Joseph Marciano can be reached directly at 604-603-7164.

Joseph and his wife Simone, who also assists with masghiach duties, are the proud parents (and in-laws) of four children, and grandparents of eight grandchildren.

Camille Wenner, Executive Director

Camille brings a strong background in shul management and fundraising to her role as executive director of Schara Tzedeck.  She served as the executive director of Congregation Machzikei Hadas in Ottawa, and with Weizmann Canada, as the development manager for western Canada.  She also worked previously as an assistant in facilities management and event planning at Schara Tzedeck. 

Vancouver born and bred, Camille spent eight years as a member of the Canadian National Rhythmic Gymnastic Team, was a four-time western Canadian champion and bronze medalist at the 2002 Pan Am Games.  Camille is married to Dr. Joshua Wenner, a fourth-generation member of Schara Tzedeck .  They have three young sons, Jacob, Levi, Noah and Ari Oz.

Rachael Lewinski, Director of Community Engagement

Rachael Lewinski has been a member of the Schara Tzedeck administrative team for the past seven years.  Vancouver born and bred, Rachael completed a Bachelor of Administration and Certificate of Management at York University before pursuing a successful career in New York as an event planner at several well-known Jewish organizations, including National Jewish Outreach Program (NJOP), Aish Hatorah, Hillel, Saw You at Sinai, and Young Brooklyn Community Organization.

Rachael’s diverse responsibilities at Schara Tzedeck position her to engage with the shul community in many capacities.  She oversees Schara Tzedeck’s facilities rentals, administers the shul’s signature LinkYID program connecting newcomers to Vancouver with Schara Tzedeck mentors and potential employers in the business community, and provides administrative support to Rabbi Rosenblatt.

Rachael and her husband, Ariel have threee young children, Yaakov, Sophie, and Hannah.

Anna Herman, Director of Operations

Anna joins us from Israel, where she worked for more than ten years as an office manager. Anna and her husband, Eitan are the parents of two children in King David High School and Richmond Jewish Day School.
