Rabbi Andrew Rosenblatt comes to us from Baltimore, Maryland.
The great grandson of Yossle Rosenblatt and grandson of Rabbi Dr. Samuel Rosenblatt graduated from Columbia University with a Bachelors degree in Chemistry and English Literature and a Masters in Science in Bio-Organic Chemistry.
Having finished secular studies, Rabbi Rosenblatt spent two years in Yeshivat Har Etzion in Israel which ultimately led him to receiving semicha from Yeshiva University in New York. Rabbi Rosenblatt was the assistant rabbi in Congregation Ahavath Torah in Englewood, New Jersey before taking the helm at Schara Tzedeck.
Rabbi Rosenblatt and his wife Dr. Cirelle Rosenblatt keep busy with their 5 children. They see it as their mission at Schara Tzedeck to make Torah resonate with the experiences of modern life. They draw on their extensive academic and Torah education as well as their creativity to put this vision into reality.
Camille has a strong background in shul management & fundraising, having served as the Executive Director of Congregation Machzikei Hadas in Ottawa, and with Weizmann Canada as the Development Manager for western Canada. Camille also has previous experience with Schara Tzedeck assisting with facilities management and event planning at the shul. Camille is originally from Vancouver, and is married to Dr. Joshua Wenner – they have two little boys, Jacob and Levi. Camille is looking forward to getting to know as many of our members as possible, bringing her experience and enthusiasm to what she sees as a shul already excelling in so many areas.
Sandra Bedrich is our newest addition to our leadership team. Sandra is originally from Vancouver and has worked in the non-profit sector for the past 25 years. She is looking forward to meeting all of our members and friends - please do not hesitate to call and introduce your self.
Director, Programming and Commmunications
Shelley Karrel is our Programming and Communications Director. She has spent over 30 years working in the field of adult education, organizational development. She is responsible for all large scale holiday events, monthly Shabbat dinners and overseeing weekly adult education classes including Torah Talks, Tea with the Rabbi, Women's Talmud Class and others as suggested by our members.
Shelley’s passion for Jewish learning and programming is evident by the vast number of programs and events for which she is responsible. SHelley has a Bachelor of Business Administration and a Masters in Counselling Psychology.
In her role as the Director of Communications, Shelley oversees the website, our various communications vehicles including Shabbat and weekly email newsletters, and our social media tools including Facebook and Twitter.

Valeen Knott has been our front office person for the past three years - and is often the voice you hear when you call our office. Valeen assists with accounting and membership administration. Originally from Prince Rupert, Valeen made Vancouver her home while attending Langara College. She has two children Isaiah and Ava.
Facilities Director/ Member Engagement
Rachael Lewinski is the Facilities Director/ Member Engagement for Schara Tzedeck. She is responsible for marketing the event space, to work with clients who book their events here and to promote our ballrooms. Rachael works closely with Rabbi Rosenblatt and members on programs such as Link Yid.
Rachael holds a Bachelor of Administration and Certificate of Management from York University. Rachael and her husband Ariel are active members of the Orthodox Jewish community in Vancouver and have 2 young children Yaakov and Sophie.
Rachael Lewinski was born and raised in Vancouver - her parents are Syd and Ruth Erlichman. She moved back to Vancouver from New York where she worked as an event planner for a number of well known Jewish organizations - National Jewish Outreach Program (NJOP), Aish Hatorah, Hillel, Saw You At Sinai, and Young Brooklyn Community Organization.
Gila's outstanding work as youth director for our Congregation has already translated into tangible success including the Families That Give Initiatives, T-Jex - our after-school supplementary program, Tot Programming, Holiday and Shabbat Programming and has resulted in many new families participating in these events. Gila as with Rabbi Ross has a wealth of experience working with children and youth. Gila has a Bachelor of Arts with Honors in psychology. She successfully created, developed and ran several programs in Calgary before coming to Vancouver. She opened a Sunday school for kids aged 3-12 that included a mother and daughter Bat Mitzvah program. She initiated community wide programs to teach kids and their families about Chaggim. Gila also taught as a preschool teacher in Calgary instilling a passion for Judaism in 25 children on a daily basis.
Director of NCSY
Rabbi Sam Ross
Rabbi Samuel Ross came to Vancouver after 4 years as founding director of the successful NCSY and JSU branch in Calgary, and has been Director of Vancouver NCSY and Torah High for the past 3 and a half years, as well as being responsible for various programming throughout Western Canada.
In that time NCSY and Torah High Vancouver has seen tremendous growth with new programs implemented, and record attendance for many events, with over 200 kids reached annually, many spending time in Israel on NCSY summer programs and gap year options.
Rabbi Ross's work has seen him honored with "Best of the Best" by National NCSY.
Torah Reader/Funeral Director
Reverend Joseph Marciano is our Torah Reader and the Funeral Director for the Vancouver Jewish community. Originally from Morocco Joseph and his wife Simone have made Vancouver their home for the past 30 years. He has become one of the greatest resources of the community as he lends his gentle comfort to those who have lost loved ones.In case of emergency, for general questions regarding bereavement, burial or related issues Reverend Marciano can be reached at 604-603-7164.
