Executive Director: Julian Lewin
Our Executive Director Julian Lewin comes to us from Toronto where most recently he served as Executive Director of a large mid-town synagogue. Born in Montreal, Julian grew up in Ottawa and attended Hillel Academy Hebrew day school, Lisgar Collegiate, and graduated from Carleton University with an Honours B.Sc. in psychology and chemistry.
Julian started his professional career with the Government of Canada in Ottawa, then moved to Toronto to work for the Liquor Control Board of Ontario before becoming the Executive Director of the Frontier Duty Free Association, a trade association representing the interests of the duty free industry throughout Canada and internationally.
Julian has had a life-long involvement in the Jewish community including being a counselor at Hebrew-speaking Camp Massad; an NCSY shul leader; president of Hillel at Carleton University; and board and executive member of various shuls. Julian speaks English, Hebrew, Yiddish and French. Julian and his wife Rosalind have four sons and two golden retrievers and look forward to participating in the Schara Tzedeck and Vancouver communities.
