Interim Youth Director - Rafi Allman We are pleased to announce that Schara Tzedeck has retained the services of Rafi Allman as Interim Youth Director. Many of you are familiar with Rafi as a NCSY advisor for the past several years. Additionally he assisted Rabbi Berger in providing Schara Tzedeck and NCSY programming after the departure of Rabbi Mernick. Rafi has an excellent ongoing relationship with Schara Tzedeck and Vancouver Youth and will provide excellent interim leadership. He is very excited to continue his work in Vancouver and looks forward to growing and developing youth programming at Schara Tzedeck. Rafi will be arriving in Vancouver at the beginning of September. Schara Tzedeck is conducting a search for a Youth Director, which is ongoing.
Director of NCSY Rabbi Sam & Gila Ross We are pleased to announce that NCSY Canada has hired Rabbi Samuel Ross as City Director of NCSY Vancouver. Many of you may know Rabbi Ross from his very successful tenure in Calgary providing outstanding youth programming. Rabbi Ross' responsibilities will focus on youth in the Greater Vancouver area. Rabbi Ross brings a wealth of experience as Calgary Kollel Youth Director over the last four years. Previous to that he worked for the Community Kollel in Berlin.
Kinder & Pre-teen Coordinator We are pleased to announce that Gila Ross (Rabbi Ross' spouse) has been hired as Schara Tzedeck's Kinder & Pre Teen Coordinator. Gila will be responsible for developing and carrying out programming for the young children and pre teens of Schara Tzedeck that will include Shabbat, Holiday and ongoing programming. Gila as with Rabbi Ross has a wealth of experience working with children and youth. Gila has a Bachelor of Arts with Honors in psychology. She successfully created, developed and ran several programs in Calgary. She opened a Sunday school for kids aged 3-12 that included a mother and daughter Bat Mitzvah program. She initiated community wide programs to teach kids and their families about Chaggim. Gila also taught as a preschool teacher in Calgary instilling a passion for Judaism in 25 children on a daily basis.
